The Atlantic Legal Foundation actively participates in significant public interest litigation on behalf of individuals and organizations. The Foundation is dedicated to the concept that justice prevails only in the presence of reason and the absence of prejudice. The Foundation advocates sound thinking in the resolution of legal disputes and the formulation of public policy. Principles central to this philosophy are:

• Consistent application of just rules of law to the litigation and regulatory processes. Rules must not be fashioned to favor a particular result. Rules must preserve the fundamental relationships among causation, injury, liability and compensation.
• Free and open inquiry, in accordance with Constitutional due process. Only such a process can ensure fairness in the resolution of disputes.
• Sound science in the courtroom, and throughout government. Bias masquerading as science defeats justice when allowed to distort decisions by judges, juries, regulators, or policymakers.

In pursuing its mission, the Atlantic Legal Foundation focuses on the legal and regulatory system. The Foundation represents clients pro bono before courts and agencies, and educates the public and decision makers. The Atlantic Legal Foundation calls upon distinguished scientists, legal scholars and practitioners within its organization, and draws upon the expertise and skills of others whenever necessary.

The Foundation has also embarked on several educational efforts, and publishes handbooks on pertinent legal matters for small businesses and charter school leaders.

The Foundation is qualified under § 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and contributions to it are tax-deductible. The Foundation has not and will not accept government funding.
